Athletic Profiling/ Baseline Testing
What is Athletic profiling/ baseline testing?
High Performance Athletic profiling is a systematic method for evaluating an athlete’s physical capabilities, identifying strengths and uncovering areas for improvement. It also can highlight potential movement patterns that may lead to an increased risk of injury. The testing battery is conducted with objective data on various performance metrics. The testing is a series of stations, using a force plate, a dynamometer for strength testing as well as tools to assess movement patterns.
Why Athletic Profiling?
- Establishes a performance baseline
- Identifies strengths and weaknesses/areas of improvement
- Assists with injury prevention strategies
- Guides personal training/ S&C programming (can be incorporated into dryland)
- Informs return to play decisions to make the process more objective (ie. the player needs to achieve their baseline in jumping/ movement/ concussion testing before going back to games).
A one hour assessment cost for all tests is $160 which is covered by health insurance. For more information, download Sea to Sky Sports Physio's info sheet.
